Social Studies

During the 2023-2024 school year at Chesapeake, we look forward to providing rigorous, culturally relevant and student-centered lessons for all students. The Social Studies department offers four AP courses: AP World History (10), AP US History (11), AP Economics (12), and AP Psychology.

Vision from Social Studies Office: The National Council for the Social Studies defines social studies as "the integrated study of the social sciences and humanities to promote civic competence." Our vision is to create historically literate and well-informed citizens who can apply the lessons of the past to the problems of the present, who utilize critical thinking, problem solving and civic action to become engaged in shaping and directing the future of our local, national, and world communities.
